Verse of the Day for 10/25/10

from http://www.verseoftheday.com/

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
— Ephesians 5:19-20 (NIV)

My Prayer...

O Lord my God, you are awesome and wondrous. Your works are magnificent and your deeds are beyond comprehension. May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart ever declare your praises. May my heart be filled with thanksgiving for all that you have done to save us from sin, shame, law, and death. You alone are worthy of my praise, my songs, and my life. In the holy name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Google OS this 2010?

Google plans to launch its own operating system for laptop PCs sometime in the "late fall," an executive said at the Computex PC show this morning.

Reuters reports that Sundar Pichai, Google's vice-president for product management, did not say which month, only specifying the "the North American autumn or fall period."

What's the best antivirus for 2011?

I've tried using the paid version of PANDA GLOBAL PROTECTION 2011 but I can't rate it as the best protection for your system because it wasn't able to detect 3 instances of trojan in my laptop although it had one of the best firewall, even better than Comodo, because it can even detect who's sharing your wireless connection! So you can accept or block them from using your wifi (for those subscribers who shared their wifi passwords). Moreover, it fixes vulnerabilities in your system which can be prone to hacker attacks. It downloads latest updates from your OS support website to fix these vulnerabilities. It takes a lot of ram despite its claims that it is Panda cloud, which means everything is done in the the Panda labs cyberspace from scanning your system to downloading updates. It also doesn't allow other spyware protection aside from itself. So I decided to switch to Avira premium version.

Avira is light and also uses the cloud technology. Avira Premium Security Suite removed the trojans and I installed it together with the Malwarebytes free version. Malwarebytes always does a good job in deleting trojans in the registry and wherever it is inside the system. However, the paid version is also good but is blocking a lot of sites even the safe ones. So I recommend Avira, better than Avast Internet Security. Avast also didn't detect any trojan which even the free version of Malwarebytes detected although the GUI of AVAST is eye candy. If you like Avast since its light on resources plus it has a free pack, you can install it together with Malwarebytes.

As for me, I'll stick to AVIRA and MALWAREBYTES. I'm also using the COMODO firewall.

Verse of the Day for 10/23/10

http://www.verseoftheday.com/

After days of spending sleepless nights doing my paper, I feel lazy writing now but here's the verse for this day to keep us going.

Today's Verse

A man finds joy in giving an apt reply -- and how good is a timely word!

My Prayer...

Loving Shepherd, I will spend much of my time today with people. Some of them know you, but most do not. Please give me wisdom to say things that lead people closer to you. Give me words of help and hope for the broken. Give me words of tenderness for the fainting. Give me words of direction for the confused. Father, I pray that whatever words I do say today may reflect your will and may be led by your purposes to bless others. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day for 10/20/10

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
— Psalm 51:12 (NIV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

In the face of sin and separation from God, grace is a refreshing stream that restores salvation. But the joy of salvation is found only when we realize and accept the forgiveness, grace, and restoration God has given us -- when we drink from the stream of grace. The joy of salvation is sustained in a changed lifestyle and an ongoing recognition that we walk with God.

My Prayer...

Holy and Righteous Father, I long for the outbreak of joy in your salvation like I see in the book of Acts. I pray for your Spirit to lead us into another era of outreach, conversion, and celebration. I pray for wisdom to know and for eyes to see those around me who are most open to the Gospel. I want to be a partner with you in your ongoing work of salvation. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day for 10/19/10

verseoftheday.com
Do you desire something good to happen in your life? Don't fret, here's what you can do.
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
— Psalm 37:4 (NIV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

Rather than seeing this as a way to get our wish list granted, let's see it for what it really is -- an invitation to seek a love relationship with God above all other things. In finding him, we will find our priorities properly aligned and our hearts tuned to know what is really valuable and what is not. Then we will see that what we have in him is our hearts' greatest desire.

My Prayer...

Awesome and Gracious Father, I confess to you that so often my heart is full of selfish things. But in moments like these, Father, I recognize that you are what I most need and your will is my heart's desire. Please kindle your Spirit in me so that I may see through any selfish deception that would rob me of having you first in my life. Forgive me when I'm petty, selfish and shallow. May I know you as much as possible for a mortal to know you, not so that I may be full, but that you may be honored. Because of your grace and in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

Verse of the Day for 10/18/10

verseoftheday.com

Do you have prayers and requests that are still not answered? Then, you may read this.

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
— Psalm 27:14 (NIV)

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

If there is anything we don't like to do, it's wait. Maybe that is why God is so interested in us learning to do it! There is something purifying about remaining strong in tough times and remaining faithful when ill winds blow. So God gives us times of waiting to see if our search is really for him or merely for something new or easy.

My Prayer...

Loving Father, I know you have waited for me so many times -- for me to show my faith, repent of my sins, grow in holiness, come to you in prayer, act more mature, give to those who cannot return my care ... Help me as I wait for you to show me the way with my decisions, to act to relieve my need, and to reveal your presence in my loneliness. I really do seek you with all my heart. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

L'arc-en-ciel's 20th Anniversary!

2005 (click image to view original size)

2010 (click image to view original size)

Aside from the live action Gantz movie which will be released in January 2011, L'arc-en-ciel's going to celebrate their 20th anniversary on January 1! It's labeled as  'L'A HAPPY NEW YEAR!'. If you haven't watched their 15th L'anniversary, you better do so because it is really well-prepared and well-packaged. I mean just by watching it on television or the internet is all worth your precious time, how much more if you were there live. Fans will surely be expecting much from them this time considering the success of their 2005 reunion. *packs things and heads off to Japan ^^v*

By the way, for those who do not know them, they performed hit songs for Fullmetal Alchemist and its movies. Their vocalist with his band, Vamps, was featured in a Time Magazine edition (in Japan, it's normal for band members to form other bands aside from their original group).

According to Professor Chris Idzikowski, director of the Sleep Assessment and Advisory Service, “We are all aware of our body language when we are awake but this is the first time we have been able to see what our subconscious posture says about us. What’s interesting is that the profile behind the posture is often very different from what we would expect.” (oneminuteblog.com)

BACK SLEEPER WITH ARMS AND LEGS SPREAD OUT

What a liberty-loving soul! Well, this posture reveals your true identity . Comfort-lover and beauty-worshipper , you are also a real spendthrift (but luckily you earn just as much). Your other undesirable trait is that you are a bit nosy and seem to enjoy gossiping.Well, to whom did you mention in your tales lately?

BACK SLEEPER WITH LEGS CROSSES

Anyone who sleep cross-legged is said to be self-obsessed and finds difficulty in accepting changes. Solitude is your priority. Yet, your redeeming quality is your threshold for tolerance!

BACK SLEEPER WITH ARMS CROSSED TO SUPPORT THE HEAD

    1. You are highly intelligent and enthusiastic to learn. Yet sometimes you are filled with cranky ideas which people find hard to follow. You take good care of your family, but the problem is you hardly love anybody. A little bit choosy, huh?

TUMMY SLEEPER

If you sleep face down all night, you are likely to be narrow-minded. You are probably self-centered and always force people to comply with your own needs. You are also likely to be reckless and desultory. Time to change your sleeping posture?

SIDE SLEEPER, LYING ON ONE SIDE

This position indicates that you are a confident person. You will see success in whatever you undertake , owing to your unrelenting endeavor . People who sleep on their side with their right arm stretching over their head and lying on the right side are said to be blessed with power and fortune .

SIDE SLEEPER , CURLING UP

Selfish, jealous and vindictive are words that describe you. People around you got to be careful not to step on your toes as you are easily irritated!

SIDE SLEEPER , LYING ON ONE ARM

Contrary to the previous one (curling up), you are gentle, polite, sincere, and loving . Well, nothing is perfect . Build up your self-confidence and learn to accept mistake or imperfections. Happiness will then come your way!

SIDE SLEEPER WITH ONE KNEE BENDED

You are inclined to be fussy, always whining and complaining. Nervousness is probably your second name. You tense up easily and get overly excited over small matters. Life isn't such a big deal. Learn to relax ^^

 CURLING UP

You feel lonely and depressed because you are obsessed with your past failure and setbacks. You are hesitant and indecisive, giving others an impression that love has been missing in your life.

COVERING FROM HEAD TO TOE

You may appear macho in public, but deep inside you are shy and weak. You tend to keep loads of secrets. If you encounter any problem, you will rather keep it to yourself and agonize over it than ask for help. No wonder you grimace in your sleep.

So, what's your sleeping gesture? Sometimes, your sleeping position varies, for example, when stress comes rushing to you, waking up, you find yourself sleeping on one side with one knee bended; or at times, when you are depressed, you may find yourself curling up one morning. It depends on your mood but if you are constantly weary or lonely, you need to chill out and start changing your sleeping position,no, I mean your personality.

This episode featured Sesshomaru's mom. Just like Sesshomaru, she appeared cold-hearted, Jaken even described them as "like mother, like son". Sessh' mom was funny because her concern for her son did not show at all nor she harbored any hatred to Inuyasha's dad and human mother; maybe because she did not have distinct emotions. She even described Sessh' behavior towards Rin and Kohaku as odd. Meanwhile, Jaken's lines provided comic relief especially when the mom asked him the reason he was crying; he replied that since his master's nature was not prone to shedding of tears, he would do it for him. What loyalty! Haha. In short, he did all the drama in this episode (I will not tell why). Here's the vid to check her out, she's like a goddess..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................with fangs.

— Psalm 25:14-15 (NIV)

My Prayer...

Precious Father, you have done so much to save me. You who are so holy and righteous, have reached down to take my hand when I was a sinner and in rebellion to your love. Teach me your ways. Correct the wrongs in my life. Guide me into the ways of your truth. I want to not only be saved from my sin, but from days of uselessness and frustration. Make me a vessel that can be used to honor you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

"I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

— Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

My Prayer...

In my struggles, O Lord, help me find your grace -- not in the relief of struggle and pain, but in the redemption and change of my heart and my habits to your glory. By your grace and in the name of my Savior Jesus I ask it. Amen.

God promises us a good future but we also have to work it out. It is good to plan ahead and do our part in accomplishing our goals but we have to remember that we should avoid worrying too much because God already knows how to make His way. This reminds me of the song, In the Hands of God from Wow Hitsongs 2010.

Kaiji

I recently watched Kaiji, The Ultimate Gambler. I think it's quite well done though I can't compare it directly to the manga 'cause I didn't bother to read it and it's not good to contrast similar works of different genres.

Kaiji is an ongoing manga which started back in the '90s. The character design is the same as Detective Conan (don't know if it came from the same mangaka). At first, I was amazed by the Liar Game concept but after viewing this, I realized that Liar game was sort of a rip-off because Kaiji's card tactics were the same as that used by  Nao in the Liar Game manga when she was coached by Akiyama on how to defeat Fukunaga in the revival round. Furthermore, I did not like the LG drama because it leaned more on the romantic rather than the psychological side.

I'll find the time to include the sypnosis and screenshots after I manage to complete portions of my thesis, papers and exams. *fingers crossed on the last part* *gasp*

Ja! Good Night. ;]

I visit verseoftheday.com everyday. This site posts bible verses with heartwarming illustrations daily. For today's verse, it says...

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

This verse  is so encouraging that  one  can  go on living despite problems so do not give up hope for God is certainly alive and powerful.

— Psalm 62:8

This verse  is so encouraging that  one  can  go on living despite problems so do not give up hope for God is certainly alive and powerful.
